Senior FX Trader / Analyst (80% - 100%)

Zürich / permanent position / hybrid

The Trading FX & Gold team in the Money Market and Foreign Exchange division is responsible for the SNB's foreign exchange market operations. It carries out such transactions for the implementation of monetary policy, for the management of foreign exchange reserves and in connection with the provision of banking services to the Confederation. In addition, it manages cash holdings in foreign currencies and carries out transactions in the context of international monetary cooperation. Our offices are in a prime location in the heart of Zurich.

 

Your tasks

 

  • Implementing monetary policy through foreign exchange market interventions and swap agreements with other central banks;
  • Foreign exchange and gold trading (spot and derivatives) as part of the management of foreign exchange reserves, and analysing concluded transactions with a view to optimising trading activity;
  • Supporting the team head in technical team management matters;
  • Managing strategically relevant projects in connection with the ongoing development of the SNB’s foreign exchange market operations;
  • Analysing and reporting on global financial market developments, with a focus on the structure and regulation of the foreign exchange market.

Your profile

 

  • Master’s degree in economics, finance or a related field of study;
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience, preferably in foreign exchange, gold or securities trading;
  • In-depth knowledge of international financial markets and strong interest in monetary policy;
  • Extensive experience in project work and the ability to successfully structure and manage complex, cross-functional projects;
  • Outstanding analytical skills, the ability to grasp new ideas quickly, a high level of motivation and a precise and diligent work ethic;
  • Very good knowledge of German or French, as well as English;
  • Place of residence near Zurich due to scheduled evening and stand-by shifts.
